If someone unauthorized has gained access to the calendar and/or to the calendar settings, the calendar administrator can follow these steps to re-secure the calendar and prevent future unauthorized access.
Go to step 3 directly if you’re already logged in as the admin user and have the compromised calendar open in a browser.
- Log into your Teamup account on a browser.
- From your dashboard, click the calendar tile to open it.
- Click the blue menu (top right), then select Settings.
- Go to the Sharing section.
- Review and secure all calendar links and users.
The steps are explained in more detail below.
Log into your Teamup account
If you don’t know how to log into your Teamup account, you may be using a calendar link rather than account access. Before proceeding, follow these steps to switch over to account-based administration.
- Log into your Teamup account on a browser. The full calendar settings are not available through the Teamup app.
- From your dashboard, open the relevant calendar.
- Click the blue menu in the top right of the calendar.
- Select Settings.
- Go to the Sharing tab.
Review and secure access
The Sharing tab shows all users, links, and groups. Use the filter at the top to sort by access type. Review calendar links first as they are the access type with the weakest level of security.
Review and secure calendar links
Calendar links provide access without requiring a login. They are the most common point of unauthorized entry, which is why we recommend account-based access for greater security and control.
- In Settings > Sharing, filter to view all calendar links.
- Delete any links with permission level above read-only.
- If calendar data should not be visible publicly, delete any links with read-only permission as well.
- Replace calendar links with account-based access.
⚠️ We no longer allow calendar links to be created with administrator access. However, older Teamup calendars may have calendar links with administrator permission assigned. These links pose a high security risk. Follow these steps to switch to account-based administration immediately and delete the old admin-level links.
Review and secure account-based users
- Filter the Sharing list by account users.
- Remove users who are no longer authorized to access the calendar.
- Review and modify permissions as needed for current, authorized users.
- Note that if a user is in a group, they will be given the group access even if it is higher than their individual user access. More details.
In the future, add new users by email for account-based access with greater security and control.
