Make Weekend Exceptions for Repeating Events

You might want to have a set of repeating events that occur on certain date each month. But you may not want the event to occur on weekends.

Here is a quick way to adjust weekend instances in an event series.  Click to view the demo:

Perhaps you want to schedule an event to occur on the 4th of every month. However, if the 4th of a month falls on a Saturday, you would like to move the event to Friday, or move it to Monday if the 4th is a Sunday.

  1. Create a recurring event, e.g. repeating on the 4th of each month.
  2. Switch to Year view.
  3. Drag any event instance that falls on a Saturday to Friday, or from a Sunday to Monday.

Since weekends are shaded, it’s easy to spot any event that falls on a weekend. Simply drag it to Friday or Monday, choose to apply the change to this event only.

If you have a busy calendar with many events, before dragging the events that are the exceptions (step 3), filter your view to see the event series only. Or, filter to see as few events as possible.
